Rock Variable Angle Shear Test

The rock variable angle shear testing machine, in accordance with the requirements of GB/T 23561-2010 and TB10115-2014, is capable of not only measuring the variable angle shear strength of rocks but also determining the uniaxial compressive strength, tensile strength (via the Brazilian splitting method), and shear strength of coal and rocks. The device includes accessories for compression, tensile strength testing (Brazilian splitting method), and variable angle shear testing. It should be able to perform pressure tests on coal and rocks, conduct uniaxial compressive strength tests, Brazilian splitting tests, and shear tests, while automatically collecting experimental data and calculating parameters such as uniaxial compressive strength, tensile strength, and shear strength of rocks.

The variable angle fixture is designed and manufactured according to GB/T23561.11-2010. This fixture allows adjustment to fifteen angles (α): 0°, 5°, 10°, 15°, 20°, 25°, 30°, 35°, 40°, 45°, 50°, 55°, 60°, 65°, and 70°, within the range of 0°-70°. By simply replacing the rotating plate, the fixture can be used for both cube specimens of 50×50×50(mm) and cylindrical specimens of 50mm diameter and 50mm length, meeting variable angle shear test requirements. The fixture includes 41 rollers with a diameter of 3mm.
Uniaxial compressive strength test: The rock specimen is placed between the upper and lower plates of a compression machine and loaded until failure, measuring the compressive strength at the point of failure.
Coal and Rock Shear Strength Test: The maximum shear stress that a cross-section of a coal or rock sample can withstand under a given normal stress.
According to GB/T 23561, the calculation method for normal stress δ and shear stress T on the shear failure plane AB is:
