Rock Indentation Hardness Tester

This machine is primarily used to measure the hardness and plasticity coefficient of rocks, and it can automatically plot the load-penetration depth curve. It is an essential testing equipment for studying rock drillability in industries such as petroleum and exploration.

The machine consists of a main frame, servo motor, ball screw, columns, beam, upper platen (pressure head), and lower platen. It can securely mount displacement sensors, pressure sensors, platens (pressure heads), and rock specimens. The cylindrical pressure head (platen) is made from high-strength steel with embedded cemented carbide cones, which are then ground into cylinders (dimensions) with diameters of 1.2–2.5 mm, ensuring a constant contact area between the platen and the rock for easier calculation of the rock's compressive and ultimate strength-hardness values. The platen's ends must be parallel, and the cemented carbide inserts must be vertically embedded into the blank. The diameter of the ground cylinders must be accurately measured using a reading microscope. This machine is mainly used to determine the hardness and plasticity coefficient of rocks.
